For more than 30 years, the Kronos Quartet—David Harrington, John Sherba (violins), Hank Dutt (viola) and Jeffrey Zeigler (cello)—has pursued a singular artistic vision, combining a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to expanding the range and context of the string quartet. In the process, Kronos has become one of the most celebrated and influential groups of our time.

For its Festival debut, the quartet's programme includes a new work by Steve Reich, recently described by the New Yorker as one of the great composers of the 20th century and works by two of the most influential musical voices of the past 20 years, Laurie Anderson and Damon Albarn.

“Kronos have an instinctive adventure-world intelligence about them. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with them again.” Damon Albarn

Enjoy the tumultuous sounds of one of the great eastern European symphony orchestras as the renowned Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra from Russia performs a mouth-watering programme featuring music by three of its motherland’s greatest composers.

Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan is a magical fairy-tale, based on a story by the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. The concert suite he arranged from the complete score comprises three movements, painted in characteristically vivid orchestral colours.

Rachmaninov composed his First Piano Concerto while still a student at the Moscow Conservatoire. Although he heavily revised it later, the work still has plenty of youthful vigour and exuberance.

The last of Tchaikovsky’s three full-length ballets, The Nutcracker, is a much-loved Christmas story about children, a handsome prince, a band of rogue mice and a trip to the Land of Sweets. Tchaikovsky matched this enchanting fantasy with one his most magical scores.

For those requiring transport, coaches to Great Yarmouth will depart from Norwich Theatre Royal at 6.15pm, £5 return

The Street Hunt bounty has been claimed - congratulations to Alex Lynch and Chris Simmons for completing the puzzle in just five days.

If you'd still like to take on the challenge yourself, free copies of the Street Hunt book are available from the Book Hive in London Street, Norwich. If you want to know the answers, visit the Street Hunt wesbite - follow the link at the bottom of this page.

Street Hunt is a kind of visual crossword puzzle, a treasure hunt where the riches are road names, a story emerging from the page, and your chance to win up to £10,000!

A poem has been written with words from Norfolk road names. A book of photographs shows the street signs and their surroundings, but with the names removed. You have to work out what the streets are, using the emerging story of the poem to help you. The first person to submit a correctly completed book with all the right answers wins. The prize is the total cash fund from book sales, with a guaranteed minimum of £1,000 and a maximum of £10,000 if all the books printed are sold. Street Hunt is about getting out into the streets, travelling around the county and talking to people.

Joshua Sofaer makes art events, performances and exhibitions that often involve the participation of members of the public. He is interested in the way the ordinary and the overlooked can be visually spectacular, and believes that art can allow people to become more active citizens.

London Fieldworks was formed in 2000 by artists Bruce Gilchrist and Jo Joelson as an umbrella organisation for creative research and collaboration at the art, science and technology intersection. Typically, their projects engage with the notion of ecology as a complex inter-working of social, natural, and technological worlds.

London Fieldworks’ Spontaneous City project will create three new commissions for the Festival, across the city’s public gardens, lesser known green spaces and urban corners. The project is a poetic and eccentric space creation experiment for birds; the sculptural ‘habitats’ are designed to contribute to their lifecycle, providing spaces for shelter, nesting or feeding. The interventions in the trees are assembled from hundreds of bespoke wooden bird and bug boxes reflecting the surrounding architecture, a metaphorical interplay between the condition of the animal and the human.

Spontaneous City aims to bring high-quality art projects to Norwich’s public realm; raise awareness of the ecological and cultural value of urban green spaces; encourage an understanding of and an engagement with ecology; and create opportunities for community engagement and collaboration.
